Today I called out of work, drove up to Annapolis and picked up my boat kit from Chesapeake Light Craft. The kayak is the Mill Creek 16.5, a double-seated wide-bodied wooden kayak, which, when finished, will sport a rudder and a sail rig.
Took about an hour to unpack it, because so much of it was taped together for safekeeping. I lined up my workbenches, set up the string for lining up the panels, and stopped there for the night. Turns out I don’t have any packing tape. I’ll pick some up tomorrow and then get cracking on gluing the scarf joints on the sheer, bilge and bottom panels. I also tacked the large kit plans up on the wall for ease of use.
