The fun part of today’s Backyard Burn 5-miler was after the race. The top five finishers in each age class each won a pint glass. Then some random names were drawn for other prizes. After this, the announcer decided to have some fun. He gathered all of us newbies to EX2 racing together, had us each choose a number and then get in line according to those numbers, then he picked a number at random and chose the five people to the left and right of that number to receive random prizes. Then there was the push-up competition, the two winners of which each received an Ipod. Then there was the gift certificate he handed to one of the runners and then told the group whoever touched him first would win it, at which point he took off running. Fun stuff. I DIDN’T WIN A DAMN THING but it was still fun. Despite having a sprained back just a week ago, and still feeling it as late as Wednesday, I managed to do about ten minutes better than I anticipated. Hopefully I’ll do even better on the next race, which is two weeks from today.

Beginning Halloween preparations out front. Decided to do something a little different this year, we painted the skull finials gold instead of the usual black.

If there's an easier way to do this, I haven't found it… If you know an easier way, speak up. I want to continue my Google+ experiment, yet I have a lot of friends on FB who haven't made the leap and may never do so. I was looking for a cross-posting mechanism. I may have found one. Post to G+, WordPress' "Google+ Crossposting" plugin imports it into WordPress, then the Wordbooker plugin reposts it to FB… Seems to sort of work…
